Nurses' Experiences in Harmful Working Environments: A Focus Group Interview Study

Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore nurses¡¯ experiences in harmful working environments.

Methods: Focus group interviews were used to collect data. Five focus groups comprised of 24 nurses were interviewed from October 25 to November 18, 2021. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis.

Results: The five themes derived from the focus group interview were ¡°having trouble escaping workplace violence¡±, ¡°the impact of workplace violence¡±, ¡°striving to overcome workplace violence¡±, ¡°being thrown into a harmful working environment¡±, and ¡°being in a nominal employee protection system¡±.

Conclusion: To create a safe working environment for nurses, a practical protection system or support program should be prepared.
